So here we are on day 2 of my 30 posts in 30 days challenge and I’m already out of ways to talk about toddler belts. So I’ve decided to start doing some SEO housecleaning. Between Google’s webmaster tools and Google Analytics, I’m drowning in information that I am unable to decipher just yet. And of course I’ve just spent the past half hour trying to find that link to the Google Analytic tutorials that I came across a year ago. (If you come across it, please leave the link in your comment perdy please!) I’m wondering if I’m only going to get the most out of it if I get back into using Adwords, which is not happening.
You know what I found out by using Adwords? That I could spend $300/month to get the same sales results as not advertising. Now that Dapper Snappers are listed on the first page for organic searches for Toddler Belts and Toddler Belt (but still way out on page 5 for Kids Belts) I don’t see the need to pay to have my keywords listed in an ad. (Are you drunk yet?) The problem is that online searchers are almost 7 times more likely to click on the organic results than a sponsored ad. I know I don’t pay any attention to the ads. Do you? But that means that for every person that clicks on my ad, 7 other people are going to my competitors because they are listed in the organic search. I didn’t realize why SEO was so important until I saw the bigger picture.
So I’ve got the tools I’m not sure how to use and a vague idea about my best keywords. I’m writing them wherever possible and even changing how I allow Dapper Snapper reviews to be done. I figure if I spend an hour a day working on optimizing my site, things should be looking really good in a few months. Like shiny Kids Belts.
Now to get the spam comments emptied outta my inbox. Albino Leopard Geckos…Seriously?
