International Autism Awareness Day

Today is International Autism Awareness Day. Here at the kids belts office we decided that we want to be a part of raising awareness for this cause. We want to announce that we  will be releasing an Autism Awareness patterned Dapper Snapper later this week. This will be a fundraiser belt that will be added to our current fundraising line. We currently give back to breast cancer research and veterans groups and we are trying to continually add to that list.

We have chosen Easter Seals as our charity, $5 from every Autism Awareness belt purchase will be donated to them. We feel that we need to support and give back to the community that supports us. We are so thankful that we are in the position to give back. I have been wanting to release this pattern for a while now and we have finally gotten everything finalized to launch.

Have you ever wondered what Autism is? “Autism is a complex neurobehavioral disorder characterized by impairment in reciprocal social interaction, impairment in communication, and the presence of repetitive and stereotypic patterns of behaviors, interests, and activities. The onset of symptoms is typically before the age of 3 years. The severity of impairment in the given domains as well as the pattern of impairments varies from individual to individual; that is why diagnosticians refer to a “ spectrum ” of disability.” (courtesy of Association for Science in Autism Treatment)

Did you know … (courtesy of Autism Speaks)

  • Autism now affects 1 in 88 children and 1 in 54 boys
  • Autism prevalence figures are growing
  • Autism is the fastest-growing serious developmental disability in the U.S.
  • Autism costs a family $60,000 a year on average
  • Autism receives less than 5% of the research funding of many less prevalent childhood diseases
  • Boys are nearly five times more likely than girls to have autism
  • There is no medical detection or cure for autism

National Institutes of Health Funds Allocation

  • Total 2012 NIH budget: $30.86 billion
  • Of this, only $169 million goes directly to autism research. This represents 0.55% of total NIH funding.

So keep an eye out later this week for the release! Let us know what other fundraiser Dapper Snappers you would like to see!

Fundraiser Dapper Snappers

We have just released a Special Edition Dapper Snapper Toddler Belt in honor of and to benefit US Veterans. When we started our company almost four years ago, we knew that we wanted to be able to give back to the community and support worthy causes and we are at a point now where we can do just that. We are donating $5 from the proceeds of every Special Edition toddler belt purchased to a non-profit Veterans Group. This will be the second “Special Edition Fundraiser Belt” and it will most certainly not be the last.

We are offering parents an opportunity to support a very worth-while charity while still getting a very practical product that will make their life simpler. We are choosing a non-profit Veterans group because it is near and dear to our hearts as not only is my husband and business partner a Vet, but several of our employees are as well. The original Dapper Snapper Toddler Belt consists of a short piece of suspender elastic with snaps that fit in the back 3 belt loops of the child’s pants and snaps over the outer 2 loops to cinch the pants thereby keeping them from falling down. The Special Edition toddler belt, which is a digital camo band with embossed frosted brass caps and brass components, is available from now through August and supplies are limited. Click here to order yours!

Toddler Tech USA is the manufacturer and distributor for the Dapper Snappers brand. In addition to our current line of Toddler Belts, we also have Belts for Moms, and Add-On Clips for pants without belt loops and “Big Kids” belts for children ages 4-9 suiting both boys and girls. I blogged about this over the weekend, but in case you didn’t see it, find out how you can help save a small mom run business. As a mom-inventor and business owner, this is a topic that is near and dear to my heart.

I hope you can take a minute and spare a dollar or two to help out this business.

Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraiser

It’s Breast Cancer Awareness month and we are so excited to bring out our first ever Dapper Snappers fund-raising kids belt, with many more to follow!

When hubby and I started our company over three years ago, we knew that we wanted to be able to give back to the community, after all, if it wasn’t for communities all over the US, we wouldn’t be where we are today. We wouldn’t be in the position to give back and support worthy causes but we are now at a point now where we can do just that. As I sat and thought about it I wondered what we could do to help raise funds as well as awareness, and I came up with Special Edition Dapper Snappers complete with frosted copper caps that are embossed with an awareness ribbon and silver components.

We are donating $5 from the proceeds of every Special Edition Breast Cancer Awareness belt purchased to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. So now, we are offering parents an opportunity to support a very worth-while charity while still getting a very practical product that will make their life simpler and their toddlers less thug-like (the whole baggy pants thing), because in my opinion, there’s nothing worse than a droopy-drawered toddler! Plus there is the whole safety aspect, if their pants fall down around their ankles, that’s surely a tripping hazard…

This Special Edition Dapper Snapper is just the beginning of a new line of fund-raising Dapper Snappers. We plan on adding more to the line along and along. We have already created a pattern for Autism Awareness and are working on Anti Bullying Dapper Snapper. We will continue to grow this line as much as possible so we can help these great organizations!

Are there any organizations out there that you feel are worth-while? We will check into them and who know, we may just make a fund-raising Dapper Snapper for them!
